I had such a fantastic time driving the Ford Hybrid Escape...really an amazing car. And though you may think me biased, it really was one of the best riding experiences I have had in a long time. On Thursday, when I received the car, I drove to a couple of meetings and did a couple of errands. The locations I went to were highly trafficked and parking was at a premium. I found the car to be easy to maneuver and a smooth riding experience.
Afterward, I visited my friend @tom_bennett. We discovered that I could sync my blackberry to the screen in the front dashboard. In so doing, I could call my friends without holding my phone. I proceeded to call 15 people...telling all of them that I was talking to them through the dashboard of my Ford Escape. This car also had GPS and a sync option for an ipod and dvd player, but I didn't get to use those. The cd player also records the songs off your cd and functions as a virtual jukebox...another very cool feature.
Friday, we took the kids to Sauvie Island, went to a farmer's market with chickens, pigs and beautiful vegetables. Next, we stopped by the beach on the Columbia River. We had a blast...and there was plenty of room for all of the produce and the kids, too!
Saturday, we went to our friends house for a Solstice Party. Maryellen Hockensmith, who has the website Yoga Cowgirls, has a beautiful space that is beautifully landscaped and 100% organic. We welcomed summer (in the cold Portland weather) with spectacular food, conversation and music. Linda Hornbuckle and her band performed and man, can she sing!
Sunday was chore day around the Van Krevelen household. We only took the car to pick up dinner. But, it was finally nice enough for us to open the sunroof. A perfect end to our 4 days together.
Some of you may have listened to my new podcast, Good Enough Gardening. I co-host it with Amanda Thomsen (of KissMyAster fame). We thought it would be fun to create a campy commercial to go on this week's cast. For the full version, check out Water, Watering Myths and Pantyhose. If you just want to hear the commercial, check this out.
I took a ton of pictures, videoed myself in the car, created a commercial for our podcast and tweeted about it quite a lot. I have collected some of that social media excitement and am posting it here on this page. If you are thinking about purchasing a Ford Hybrid Escape, give me a shout. I am happy to tell you more about my experience!

Glad you had such a fun experience with your Ford Escape Hybrid test drive. I enjoyed reading about your adventures. I had a blast with mine (http://tinyurl.com/km9y8u).

This is an awesome entry! I love how they 'beefed' up the design of the Escape this year.
ENJOY... can't wait to watch your video!

I'm very impressed with how Ford has been directly marketing the car to people like you. Glad you pointed it out to me, Thanks, David
