I realized that I have been so focused on veggie seedlings that I have neglected to post pictures of the amazing transformation that is taking place in The Back 40. The apples are almost in full bloom and the cherries are absolutely breathtaking. This is one of the three apple trees on the property. And below is a picture of our giant cherry tree...and what I think is another cherry in our neighbor's yard.
There are multiple benefits to having an mini orchard like ours...one that is often forgotten is the sheer joy of standing next to the trees when a bit of wind comes by...it is like having a snow storm of petals...I mean, what could be better than that? The little white and pink snowflakes drift around the landscape...it is like being caught up in a snow globe. Dreamy....
Since Mother Nature has decided, once again, to be entirely capricious...it snowed here yesterday...I will focus on the beauty visible from all of the east windows of the house. And maybe, just maybe, I will be able to have one last bit of patience with MN's tantrum.

What beautiful pictures from across the USA, how blessed you are to enjoy such beauty! We have gone from warm sun to a cool grey mist today, the plants are loving it.The previous post about the Rhubarb, mine is just coming up, we look forward to Rhubarb Crisp but not for another few weeks. I was in Portland, Oregon a few weeks ago and got my first dose of flowering cherries at the Japanese Garden. I had the same snow globe thought as I stood there getting a delicious dusting of petals.

This weather is just making me mad! This was our first year starting vegetables from seed, and most of them haven't made it. I have been taking them in from the cold, but I think it made it worse. Bring back spring...for reals!!(I found your link on the LRBC website!)

Jean Ann - Actually, I saw some stunning stuff when I was in Portland. Just thought I'd have some fun with the psychedelic hibiscus. My absolutely first stop after breakfast at the downtown Peet's Coffee was the Japanese Garden. Lots of shots at my Flickr site. But as you say, everything was pretty late in shaking off winter, so the rose demo garden was still snoring soundly.I even got to pop in at Digg in the Pearl District and see some great garden art and furnishings. later, skater.
